Would you stand up to Lucas?

I thought it would be neat to have a place to discuss "The Rifleman" episodes. If there is an episode you wish to discuss in length, please feel free to post it here.

Oat Jackford

I don't know if I would want to stand up to either one of these cowboys.

Again, another Lucas equal. Only difference was Oatford was full of hot air. :surprisedcowboy:

He wasn't too full of hot air when he stood up to Tom King... :msn-wink:

Mark held his own with pa, but mark's fatal flaws were his inabilty to stand up to peer pressure and impulsiveness. There was manolo and Colley vane. There was taking the blame for Billy with the jujubees and the book. Finally, there was Fred's goading which led to Charlie's death.
In Smokescreen I don't think Mark was too eager to try that cigar that Howey offered him. :seeingstars:

In The Marshal Mark told Lucas that Arch Quinn dared him to take a big swallow of whisky once that made him sick. (Do you remember the look Lucas gave him? Cute!)

Hattie had no qualms about telling Lucas off if she felt the situation warranted it.

Mr. Griswold in Schoolmaster stood up to Lucas. But I doubt he knew just how powerful Lucas was

Not only was lucas imposing and intimidating, lucas, as head of the town council and the school board, was also his boss. Mr. Griswold did have a valid point about the rifle on schoolgrounds, though.

Sam buckhart stood up to Lucas. Lucas tried to talk Sam out of "parading his authority around north fork " and almost came to blows with the Marshall. Sam quite rightly warns Lucas he could arrest him for threatening a Marshall.

Dr. Simon Battle stood up to Lucas in Death Trap.

Just think, if the good doctor would have stayed in North Fork, Lucas would have had some ruff competition.

Adele Adams lets Lucas know she does not appreciate him scoffing at the idea of women voting and the women's class on government.
