Barn dances & church socials

It also would have been neat to see all the regulars gather together for an occasion at one of these.

I always enjoy this on "Gunsmoke", even if a fight breaks out!  Of course I don't think I have ever seen Matt dance.  But he did attend.

I also was disappointed to get to the end of the series and find there were no dances filmed. I'm also a Jane Austen fan (books & films) and have read of how difficult it is to film those dance scenes. There must be some similar problems with filming a barn dance, probably first of all finding extras who knew those dances, and teaching the regulars enough to make it look real. I saw a movie recently, I think either "Support Your Local Gunfighter" or "Support Your Local Sheriff" and the barn dance scene looked pretty fake!

I also enjoyed the dances on Little House on the Prairie. I really enjoyed Almanzo and Laura dancing in Sweet Sixteen.

However, my very favorite dance from the Little House on the Prairie series, is in the closing scene of May I Have This Dance.

Oh Judy, I forgot about that one!  It's a really good one too!

I started a story over in the storybook room about a dance in Northfork.  Please come help us write our own episode!

Lucas does admit to being a terrible dancer in Eddie's Daughter.  Maybe it's best that we missed it.

Never mind the rifle, it would be like trying to dance with your feet strapped to a pair of ironing boards. I think Chuck wore a size 30 shoe (or boot).
