Ida lupino

Post by Dana » Wed Feb 07, 2018 4:02 am

February 4th marked the 100th birthday of actress and one-time rifleman director Ida lupino. Was this another way the rifleman was a trailblazer? Was this show the first western to have a female director? Did Chuck and Ida ever work together again?

Ida _Lupino directed The Assult

Ida Lupino was an English-American film actress and director and a pioneer among women filmmakers. She was one of the founders of Four Star Productions along with Hollywood actors Dick Powell, David Niven and Charles Boyer.

She was an amazing trailblazer. an actor, producer, writer. and we have all probably seen the TV promo Dick Powell did for The Rifleman.

I remember seeing Ida Lupino on a few TV shows and in some movies.
I'm not really a fan but she can be admired as a trail-blazer for women.

Rest In Peace Ida Lupino :angel5:

It was nice seeing David Niven introduce Chuck Connors as "The Rifleman". :)

Ida lupino was the female to direct a film noir (the hitchhiker). She is the only woman to direct an episode of the twilight zone. She is also person to have both acted and directed in an episode of the twilight zone. She was one of the first directors to deal with topics such as rape, pregnancy outside of marriage, and bigamy. She was also one of the first directors to have actors and actresses of all ethnicities without it being a big deal.
