Things I learned hanging around North Fork

I thought it would be neat to have a place to discuss "The Rifleman" episodes. If there is an episode you wish to discuss in length, please feel free to post it here.

Post by wildwest » Tue Feb 13, 2018 3:58 pm

What are some of the things you learned in North Fork??

I learned

what jimsen weed is
you can temp fix a broken wagon wheel with a long branch in its place
you can get a free cup of coffee from Micah anytime
if you want to learn how to shoot.......Lucas is your man
don't try to rob a bank on Sunday
don't kidnap Mark
don't play poker with Lucas
stay out of caves and quicksand
if you want Mark to leave the room...tell him to get firewood
don't mess with a blinded Lucas cause he will still kill ya
Julia has good food at the Boarding House
always check behind Marks ears
Micah is always dropping the handcuffs key
watch for snakes in your bedroll
Lucas looks even better with his shirt off
Micah will always beat ya at checkers
there is a new fangled treat called ice cream
trains go 40 miles an hour
don't mess with Lucas marigolds
don't fall on a pitchfork
people usually hide in the hayloft.....Mark, The Princess etc
make headbands from rattlesnake skins
always, always go get water for every situation
Lucas makes great beef stew
never shoot more game than you can use
Hattie always has rock candy for sale
when Lucas drop cocks the Winchester.....run for your life
Lucas can track an ant in a cornfield
Indians can be your friends
don't go up against Lucas in a shooting event
they can't keep the do-dabs on the Mallory sign cause Lucas uses them for target practice
were the books Mark carried to school those five years the same books??
did Mark ever get the 'new' mans saddle?
no one fills out a pair of jeans like Lucas
the outhouse has a half moon on it
Lucas wears the deputy badge on the other side cause he has a big heart
after a fight or brawl with Lucas, his hair is perfect
you can squeeze a chicken to get more eggs
one room in the hotel has no shaving mug in it
Sweeney doesn't like it when ya break his mirrors
don't plow where there are yellow jackets
Lucas can mount from both sides as well as from the rear of the horse
Mark is a pretty good cook but hates to do the dishes
we only saw them washing their clothes once in 5 years
Mark can churn butter
Lucas can doctor yellow fever
if ya mess with Marshall Torrence you answer to Lucas
don't go 60 miles to get salt
don't put kerosene in canteens
don't drink contaminated water
a gun is no play toy

I have learned SO much there. what have you learned??

Wowww WildWest - You've covered a lotta things!
I'm sure I'll think of more things later - but off the top of my head I've learned:

How very much Lucas loved Margaret. Watching The Rifleman as a kid - my focus was on the Love/Chemistry between Lucas and Mark. I didn't think too much about Margaret.

I've learned sooo much about Lucas ~ Mark ~ Micah and the actors that appeared on The Rifleman through CowGirl's site. Things I'd never find just surfing the internet are on this site.

I like reading what other Ranch Hands have to say. I like that we have different opinions and analyze things differently. It's just so much fun! :)

Yes I really enjoy chatting with the ranchhands. This site has it all thanks to Cowgirl.

I must be bored today.....

here are a couple more

stay out of ghost towns
Lucas can sew
Lucas can change diapers
Lucas can give a 'store bought' haircut at home
Mark can recite Sheridans Ride
don't fix Lucas up with a mail order bride or Rebecca Snipe
Lou always has advice to share from her 'dearly departed Father'
both Micah and Hattie have cats
Mark can milk a cow with the best of 'em

gotta go eat lunch and do some cleaning. pretty soon my afternoon episodes will be on!

If you're trying to confuse your tracks.....walk backward
Lucas better go with Micah when he is delivering a criminal every time......cause he will need his help
Mark is a pie expert
never take a cigar from Grid Maule.....boom
don't ask Lucas to sell his ranch
If Lucas misses a cougar....it is the sight on the rifle not him

I think i am 'bout done
