Judy, I was going to ask you if this may be German in origin since there are a lot of people of German descent in Wisconsin. However, I Googled it and Wikipedia said it's Norwegian. Here's the link in case anyone's interested:

I live in a 100+ year old house.  It was re-built in 1893 after the original one burnt.

My parents purchased it in 1948 .....  it now belongs to my two brother and myself... but I live in the house.

There are four bedroom upstairs.....  one always being called 'over the kitchen'...  a term used around here for all rooms that are over the kitchen.
