"Whips And Jingles"

Post by Deneen » Wed Aug 22, 2018 5:05 am

I know what Micah meant when he said he had the "Whips And Jingles".
I also heard that phrase on "Wagon Train" and "GunSmoke".
We now call it DTs - Delirium Tremens. :seeingstars:

We don't hear the phrases "Hello The House" and " Money - Marbles or Chalk" today but "Get Outta Dodge" will be said for years to come.

I guess this is only interesting to me but I've often been told to "Get A Life".

Thank you Deneen....I learn SO much hanging around the Ranch and I love the people I chat with. I think todays police should use the term 'whips and jingles' when they arrest someone for alcohol then throw them in the 'slammer'. after all....Micah always drops the key and they can easily escape anyway and get outta Dodge I am glad the writers used so many unusual sayings. hey.. that leads me to post a new subject

Whips and Jingles
The nauseous, gut wrenching, need to throw up feeling but can't associated with your hangover from a rough night of drinking.

whips and jingles
Withdrawal from alcohol or drugs. The whips and jingles can be agonizing.

whips and jingles
a state of torturous delirium, particularly delirium tremens

I have to agree - WildWest. :)
I also learn new things and a different way of looking at things on this board.
It's nice to have a place to discuss the things we have in common. (Chuck) :giggle:

Yep Chuck shirtless is about more than I can stand and those tight jeans.....well......Chuck even looked very fit in his senior years. he did not let himself go like many men.......I think I need my 'vapors'. Clint Walker looked good as well and also tall.

Fortunately, I have never been able to drink without getting sick. Movies, plays, books, this forum, Mexican food and ice cream are my vices!

The whips: the headaches and whiplash from bowing down to the great porcelain god Ralph! The jangles: the earth-shattering awful feeling from the spinning room and the smallest noise!
