My current read is broadcast hysteria: Orson welles' war of the worlds and the art of fake new by a. Brad Schwartz. It is about the famous broadcast in 1938.

Do you guys remember Ray Collins? He is best remembered as lieutenant tragg on Perry mason. He also was a member of the mercury theatre. During the war of the worlds broadcast, he played a witness who kept going in and out of mike range. This bit made some listeners think the invasion was real.
