James Best as Bob Barrett in The Day the Town Slept: Although Best is not known for his musical talents, he did play the guitar in The Andy Griffins Show/The Guitar Player Returns as Mayberry's own guitar celebrity Jim Lindsey returns, but he's not the conquering musical hero everyone thinks he is.

I saw an interview about James. he was invited back as a cast member to one of their reunions. He told them he was not a 'regular' cast member but they said it did not matter. the episode he was in was one of the fan favorites so they included him.

Gloria DeHaven was a singer. She partnered with Frank Sinatra for at least one song. She was part of a trio with Virginia O'Brien and June Alyson, singing In a Little Spanish Town. She did a beautiful rendition of Who's Sorry Now? It seems she mostly played sweet young things,so I imagine Lil Halstead was a fun change of pace for her.

OH!! I just remembered Denver Pyle. I don't recall that he actually *sang* on Andy Griffith, but who can forget Briscoe Darling? "You got time to breath, you got time for music."
Although Denver Pyle didn't sing or play an instrument he did play the jug. :laughingcowboy:

Allen Case / Young Englishman had an album out in 1969.

The Very Thought of You

He came to New York in 1954. A winner on the Arthur Godfrey Talent Scouts program, he signed a contract as a singer with Columbia Records. He appeared in a number of Broadway productions, including Once Upon a Mattress (1959) and Hallelujah, Baby! (1967), and in a City Center revival of South Pacific (1957).

John Abbott was in The Vision as Dr. Hennekin.

Abbott had only one singing role, playing Manuel in the 1958 film Gigi (1958). It's a Bore (contains solo lines) with Maurice Chevalier.
