Actors & Actress that did commercials

It has been over 60 years since The Rifleman first visited our living rooms. Grab your boots and saddle and get ready to ride as we revisit the McCain's! Lucas, Mark & Micah gather here to talk about The Rifleman. What better place to discuss The Rifleman then his own front porch.

Actors & Actress that did commercials

Post by cowgirl » Mon Aug 12, 2019 2:01 pm

Way back when it was rare to see a well know actor promote a product. Do you know who the first start was to do this?

Let's make a list of actors & actress who have done commercials and what product they were promoting.

My favorite of his is Pride in America. He and many other stars promoted keeping America clean (1987)
Charles Bronson Mandom Perfum Commercial (1976) / "SCENT OF A MAN": THE CHARLES BRONSON TV AD
(a series of TV ads for a new cologne from the Japanese firm Mandom)
"Keep your 'sites' on The Rifleman"
"The Rifleman hits the 'Mark' every week on abc."
A cowgirl's work is never done.

Norman Alden was in The Anvil Chorus (1962) as Duff.

He played Lou the mechanic in a series of AC Delco commercials. He was so convincing that people would actually come up to him and tell him their car problems.

I could be mistaken, but didn't James Garner break the stigma of name actors doing commercials, when he did the Polaroid one-step commercials?

I forgot all about James Garner doing those commercials and also Mariette Hartley as his wife. What a great memory!

A Celebration of James Garner’s Polaroid Commercials

When it came to celebrity spokespeople, Polaroid wasn’t stingy: Laurence Olivier did the first ad for the SX-70 camera, and Danny Kaye touted the ill-fated Polavision instant movie system. Hiring James Garner was a similarly classy move, but the ads he appeared in weren’t like anything which Polaroid had done before. Or anyone else, really.

I'm not sure if John Wayne broke any records in doing commercials, but take a look at the list on Duke's TV Commercials.
