#20 - The Deadeye Kid

There is always a lesson to learn when you watch “The Rifleman.” There is no better teacher for Mark than his father, Lucas McCain. Lucas teaches Mark from “The Bible” and from experience. Sometimes the lessons are hard ones and at times rather easy ones. They are still lessons learned! Let’s discuss the lessons learned in each episode. “Every lesson you learn makes you a better partner.” “Just remember the lessons!”

Good question Cowgirl. Mark had an older friend in Surveyors but I don't think Lucas disapproved. Donnel which we are talking about in Deadeye Kid.

Brad in Second Witness.

would you think Don Gradys character in The Patsy older? Im not sure Lucas disapproved, it was a sad situation instead for the boys

I cant think of any.........

Lucas was certainly less than thrilled when Cass caldecott showed up for supper. Likewise, Lucas disapproved of Mark and miss Bertie binding over bad guys.

Ok, Miss Bertie was a Bounty Hunter in one way or another.

How many bounty hunters can we name? Me first.....

The Trade as Hamp Ferris, he was the cowboy who wanted to turn Morley in for the reward.

A different kind of bounty.....

A Case of Identity - A reward / bounty for Wingates son.

Lon Perry, and his partner Captain James Gordon schemed to make Wingate think Mark was his son so they could get the reward money.

The Wrong MAn.....Jay Jefferson was after Pete Dawson and killed Curly Smith instead

Tension.....Clemmie was not a bounty hunter but he was using an old warrant/poster....after Roy Coleman and killed Sid Halperin

they shoulda used Josh Randall in some episodes

Lucas definitely disapproved of hazel, even thought she was nice to Mark. Lucas tolerated lil, but only because she was Eddie's daughter.

Mark and Jeff were more "frenemies" than anything else.

Today in history: don Mahoney tells Mark he came out west because Horace Greeley admonished youngsters "go west young man", so he did. Horace Greeley was the founder and publisher of the new York Tribune. Don is actually paraphrasing Horace Greeley, who wrote: "go west young man and grow up there" on July13, 1865. If my math is correct, don would have been a baby then. Greeley died in 1871, when Mark would have been a baby.
